I first posted about the Dr. Seuss themed Teacher/Staff Appreciation week for my daughter’s school on my other blog, “Confessions of a Scrapaholic,” but I wanted to go into a bit more detail here at Simply Styled Home. This is the post for those of you on the PTSA and/or Hospitality Committee for your child’s school. This is where you will find step-by-step instructions to create a “Hats Off to our Principal!” album for your principal. Ready? Let’s go!
The principal at Zoë’s school is amazing, and even though she doesn’t have a classroom, she touches the lives of every person in our school. I wanted to do something extra special for her. I truly believe that a principal sets the tone for the entire school. Our school rocks and she does too!
Prep: I asked the photographer to please print 4×6 versions of the teacher/staff Seuss-y pictures along with the 8×10′s for the teachers’ doors. I slid the photos into a 2-up album before bringing the album to school, that way the teachers/staff could slide their note into the album next to their picture. This was helpful for two reasons: 1) It saved me time. 2) I don’t know who all of the teachers are! It would have taken me forever to try and match up the notes to the correct photo.
During Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week I set up a table with the above sign and asked the teachers/staff to please write a note to Principal S. telling her how much they appreciate her. I also decorated the table with red daisies and red licorice to lure people over. I also sent out an email to the teachers and staff on Thursday morning reminding them to please write a note to Principal S. before Friday afternoon.
At the end of the week I gathered up all the “hats” the students had made for her, and glued them into the album as well. The final step was the Seuss up the album a bit, so I added some ribbon and a “Cat in the Hat” sticker.
