This series of posts is for those of you on the PTSA and/or Hospitality Committee at your child’s school. Here you will find step-by-step instructions to duplicate the “Supersonic Snacks” Gourmet Popcorn & Snack Bar at your school. Ready? Let’s go!
Some people don’t like popcorn. Did you know this? It had honestly never crossed my mind until I heard a teacher mention it last year. They didn’t have any snacks and that simply would not do! This year we had six different varieties of gourmet popcorn for the staff to enjoy throughout the day (1/2 sweet and 1/2 savory), in addition to two varieties of Chex Mix, nuts, Starbursts, and Milky Ways. I created “Sweet” and “Savory” 2″ circle labels for the serving cups because I could not imagine anything more disgusting than mixing Fudge Mint popcorn with Herbs & Spices. Bleck.
You can find all sorts of fabulous popcorn recipes on my Simply Pop! Pinterest board.
I used SignUp Genius to coordinate with other members of the Hospitality Committee. I asked that they please drop their popcorn off at my house the night before so that I would have time to fill the glass jars and make them look pretty. After cutting out the labels, I adhered them to the glass jars using Glue Dots.
- Be very specific with the quantity desired. In the past, I have requested the equivalent of two popped bags of microwave popcorn and received anywhere from 4 cups to 3 gallon sized Ziploc bags.
- Depending on the number of staff members (and how many varieties you provide) it will last more than one day. Be sure to buy extra bowls or cups. People will come back more than once and you don’t want to run out.
- If I had it to do over again, I would have used lime green as a backdrop and table cloth instead of black with silver stars. Yes, space is black, but it sucked all the light out of the pictures.
